Thursday IRL

Last week I went to my first Thursday event. I must admit, when driving to the brewery, there was a moment where I thought Why am I even doing this? Once I parked the car, I decided to be brave and head inside. The brewery was nice, big and the energy was flowing. At first, I was a little confused as to where this event was being held within the building, but soon I found the entrance to Flirt City :) or so I hoped. The host smiled and recognized me since I had previously messaged them on Instagram. She smiled and was kind, which helped a bit. I entered and automatically was greeted by groups of people who came with friends. I beelined to a table for I came alone, I wanted to observe from the sidelines, take in everyone and how they were reacting to this new dating app. We all kind of seemed to be in a similar mindset in a way, a little nervous, but overall excited for what the night would bring.

As I watched others mingle, I quickly hit the bar for a brew to hopefully calm my nerves and give me that extra little boost of confidence. This wasn't just a mixer though, this also was a comedy show, called The Funny Bachelors. Before the show was to begin, a girl approached me. She had a warm and approachable demeanor.  She introduced herself, I had somehow misheard her name and thought she said her name was Parsley. I truly must be getting deaf with my old age. It rhymed and was similar, we laughed, and that minor miscommunication seemed to have broken the ice for the night.  She introduced me to her friends and we all chatted, then a guy came over, beelining it straight towards me.

The guy. He approached with not a singular shy bone in his body. He quickly commented on my outfit, that night I decided to go big or go home. My outfit's color scheme that night was red, direct, and unforgettable. The jeans I wore had handpainted devils on them, and my top was a cute v-neck sweater with little rhinestone bows for buttons, and my shoes were of style. Honestly, even I was impressed by my sense of fashion for the night.

The complimenter decided if we should sit together and find seats before the show was to begin. I made the decision to sit front row, I wanted to see all the action on stage.

The show started with the comedians introducing themselves, I must admit they had the banter and wit to make the crowd hum and buzz. Eventually, it was time for a couple to enter the stage. It was a blind date on stage, while the comedians peppered them with pretty intense questions that for some would make even the devil blush.

Blind dates, are already awkward, but first dates are exceptionally awkward, put those two together and you have a whole lot more AWWARD!

The night was filled with laughs, shouts, jokes, and maybe even a kiss on stage. It truly was a night of fun. After the show came to an end, that was when the true events were to begin. The IN REAL LIFE dating. No more sitting on the sidelines, I knew exactly who I wanted to talk to.

He was tall, dark, and handsome. He was so easy to talk to as well. The great thing about Thursday is that we are all in the same boat, we all want the same outcome, to meet someone. I couldn't stop talking and smiling, I felt rusty with my comebacks and my flirty skills weren't up to par, but that all could be because of you. You made me nervous. We talked about, cooking. We still owe each other a night of cooking. Eventually, we split, to go and mingle.

I met other fascinating and fun guys, but I still couldn't get you out of my head, I watched as you moved about the room, smiling and talking. I was kicking myself for not asking for your number, but then you were there again, standing in front of me, asking for my number, I smiled and placed it in. Too bad I haven't heard from you yet, but I get it. Maybe you were being kind, or maybe you are busy, or simply this... maybe you just weren't that into me. Well, all I can say to you is Thank you, for making my night.

Overall, I met wonderful people and managed to get flirted with, complimented, and received some phone numbers. I already booked my next Thursday event! I am looking forward to Dating IRL :)
