Brother
You have always stood by my side. Your love never wavers. Certain scars you carry were meant to be mine to bear. I could easily place you in a room full of people. You can tell when things aren't right, just by a glimpse. You know me. There are times when mom looks at us and wonders what language we share. It's just a sibling thing. Knowing one another in a way even friendships don't understand. A brother, no you are something else entirely. You are a protector, listener, friend and so much more that words can't even fathom.
If I had to explain who you are to others I would say this...
He is generous, and kind. He has a big heart. He tends to play the tough guy but happens to be sensitive under that hard exterior.
My brother.
In the early morning, you wake up before the sun rises, coming over to me and persistenting we play a game. I would try to keep my eyes closed wanting to dream instead of play. But that never worked you knew I was awake. We would play quietly. Games of dragons and bionicles. Sometimes you even accepted the role of student when I wanted to play school.
There were also moments when I thought you wanted to be gone, you were lost in your own darkness, not wanting to be found. I would pull you out. That's the thing you can't hide. I'll find you even when you don't want to be found. You wanted to give up, but I wouldn't let you.
I have fought with you. We have raised our voices. But in the end, it's only because I care.
We have faced monsters people can't even dream of.
Here's the thing. It will always be You and I.
There are so many stories and things I could say, but when I come home. We will have time. I will be better. I will make time. I will be there.
See you soon, Brother.
