Wander

The best vacations are the ones where you leave room for spontaneity. Also, being a solo traveler has given me so much freedom to decide what I want to do. For instance, when I went to Scotland I could choose what I was interested in, such as little towns by the water, hiking, and of course, anything Outlander-based. You have the reigns and can meet the most incredible people.

When traveling, if you are on a tight budget like me and want to fly on the cheap, you can put your money into food and experiences of a lifetime. Like riding horses on the seaside, going wine tasting in Tuscany, or skiing down the Matterhorn in Switzerland.

Here are some helpful tips, and advice I can offer. I am living in London now, so yes when I came here I had a suitcase, a carry-on, and a backpack. Now that I am living abroad, it is so easy to book a cheap flight, but with that being said you usually can only bring one personal item (if booking a CHEAP flight). For me, my personal item is my old trusty college pack. I have now used it twice for weekend trips, and it manages to hold all my essentials. This week I am headed to Portugal and to my surprise I managed to pack a week's worth of clothes into the pack, a book, and my laptop. I don't know what Mary Poppin's magic is happening, but I will take it.

If you are packing with a pack here are some helpful tips:

  • Make sure to put heavy things at the bottom
  • Bring one pair of shoes that you will be wearing to your destination. I recommend https://kizik.com/en-gb/products/womens-lima-fawn . I wear these everywhere, super comfy and great to walk/hike in.
  • Roll your clothes do NOT fold
    • I usually bring
      • 1 pair of jeans
      • 1 pair of leggings
      • 1 pair of shorts
        • You can change this due to where you are traveling and the climate.
      • 3-5 short sleeve tops
        • solid/neutral color
      • 1-2 long sleeve
      • coat
      • pajamas
      • socks
      • undergarments
      • Toiletries
        • you can always buy them once you arrive at your destination to utilize space
      • PORTABLE CHARGER
I do hope this helps, and honestly, it all depends on you, your destination, as well as your pack. I recommend a bag like this -->

So now go and catch a flight! Make memories, and remember to say YES, be present and be spontaneous!
