Sisterhood

 Oct 2, 2023

Sometimes all we need is a girl's weekend. Late nights are when we discuss topics that can either be merely amusing or very profound. Or we need a night out with a drink or two. That's what I had this past weekend. I didn't realize just how much I craved and needed that. It was like a glass of water on a hot summer day.

Starting by Friday, with getting all dolled up for the bars. Chating about common interests and past memories while applying mascara. Once we believe we have hidden all our flaws and enhanced our beauty we decide to test fate and go out. The night starts with a pub and a glass of liquid courage, I meet others and chat, and soon enough I am feeling the buzz. I keep telling everyone no I shall not partake in karaoke, but soon enough I am on the floor with a mic in hand, singing terribly. But how often can you say you did karaoke in an English pub in Essex? The night is made of memories and filled with laughter. But it soon comes to an end and we crave our beds. Of course, we must discuss the events of the night while trying to remove the remnants of the evening off our faces.

The next morning I wake up, and the next day is slower due to our late night. Coffee is poured and I drink it like my life depends on it. I soon polish myself up and soon am ready to take on the next adventure. Which happens to be Cambridge.

The best part about having a weekend with a friend, is you get to share memories with that person. You get to talk and discuss your surroundings. You get to eat in the comfort of another.

Cambridge was stunning, from going punting to getting lost within a courtyard then stumbled upon the St.Johns campus which was like walking on a Harry Potter set. I did it all while in your company and it made it all the better.

By the end of Saturday, we were exhausted we ended the night by watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and a glass of prosecco.

Sunday was probably the best day we were finally getting accustomed to each other's presence. We slept in had coffee, talked about boys and living. Then we wandered to a lake or some lovely water town. Taking in enough fresh air and the rays of the sun.

Overall the weekend was great because I had a companion. Someone who listened, who paid attention and we made memories.

Make sure to make memories and see your friends. Have those old sleepovers, do each other's makeup and hair, paint each other's nails, and be an adolescent one more time. Let adulthood come tomorrow.
